We’re happy to tell you that refreshing feeling is less than 10 days away here at The Commons at SouthField Highlands. The welcoming and fan-favorite saltwater swimming pool will be opening up for the season on Saturday, May 25^th, just 8 days from now! In our inaugural season last summer, the swimming pool served as a daily oasis for our residents looking to cool off during those days of scorching, record temperatures. Got some hot dogs, burgers, or sausages up in your refrigerator? Grab them along with your sunblock and bring them down to the patio area where we have two complimentary grills for all your summertime favorites. The opening of the pool marks what should be a great summer to call The Commons home. Keep checking back in the future for upcoming events! We hope to see you down at the pool

Delicious hot dogs, tasty sausages, fresh beverages, and cornhole, that must mean only one event is returning to the The Commons at SouthField Highlands, the 2^nd annual “Block Party!” On May 30^th come join us at the parking lot outside of the leasing office and pool area to enjoy another day of fun-filled activities and good tasting food. Last year, we organized our first block party not knowing how our residents would feel about it. After hearing feedback from our residents after the event it became clear, the “Block Party” is here to stay. The summer weather is continuing to get here more and more each day and the block party is the perfect way to break in summer here at The Commons. There are games and activities for kids of all ages as well, so feel free to bring the whole family. We didn’t forget about your fury little friends! Numerous pet businesses from around the Weymouth area will be in attendance as well giving out treats and other products. We look forward to seeing all our residents on Thursday May 30^th for what should be another great block party!

What do you think about when you hear the word “summer”? There aren’t many more fitting terms to describe summer with than delicious food and drinks. A local favorite here in Weymouth is the perfect place you want to be to experience first-hand some of finest in quesadillas, nachos, burgers, and steaks. That place is the Main Street Grille, located just a short walk from the Commons at SouthField Highlands. Our friends at the Main Street Grille are there seven nights a week to bring you a delicious, yet-diverse menu of grill-inspired recipes and cold, refreshing drinks. Main Street Grille is open from 11:30AM until last call at 1:00AM. Think you can outsmart your competition? Each Monday Main Street Grille offers team trivia as well as cheap eats such as their $4 pizza deal, a must-eat for any pizza lover! The Celtics and Bruins have a busy playoff weekend ahead of them, so head on down to the Main Street Grille with friends to catch all the action!

Great news residents of The Commons, we are excited to announce the opening of Trotter Road for any residents looking to drop off or pick up friends and family from the South Weymouth Commuter Rail Station! The SouthField Community is excited for this opening, as this will continue to add to the fantastic and convenient living experience here at SouthField. No longer will residents have to worry about holding umbrellas or getting soaked during rain storms before their morning commute. Another grand opening we are looking forward to is the connecting of Trotter Road with Route 18, providing easier access for residents to enjoy the delicious dining options and attractions of Rockland and Abington. We as a city and region are proud to represent some of the greatest teams in professional sports year in and year out. However, there is one single event each year that captures the imagination of not just Bostonians, but tens of thousands of tourists and athletes hailing from over fifty countries worldwide. Each Patriots Day, the masses flock to the streets of Boston to catch a glimpse of the dedicated runners of the Boston Marathon. The 26.2 mile trek stretching from Hopkinton to Copley Square is the signature athletic event that captures the spirit of not just the runners but the many patrons who enjoy the city’s festivities. The forecast for Monday’s event calls for a comfortable 60 degrees and sunshine, making it perfect for both runners and city goers. The Commons at SouthField would like to extend all of our best wishes to not just our-local runners, but to all those competing from all parts of the world! For all our residents, we have some exciting news to bring you! The MBTA has announced they are in the final phase of a signing off on a deal that will open up the Trotter Road entrance to the South Weymouth Commuter Rail Station. Picking up your friends, family, or significant other just became a whole lot easier in living at The Commons! No longer will you have to worry about making the turn onto Route 18 during rush hour traffic. The agreement is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks and the entrance way opening should occur before the end of April. Of course with beautiful summer weather on the verge of arriving, it’s never a bad option to take a walk and enjoy the sunny skies at SouthField. Summer time is sure to bring out fun-filled events for the whole family all around Boston. Living at The Commons at SouthField Highlands puts you just a short walk (or drive now) and a 15-minute relaxing ride from all the festivities! We here at The Commons would like to once again thank our fabulous residents for another great turnout at our trivia night!   We’ve had a number of different events to show appreciation for our residents and to provide a fun-filled time, but we think trivia might be everyone’s favorite activity. All of our five teams came ready to play and brought their “A” game. In the end “King’s Justice” claimed the throne (no pun intended), and for their first place victory they took home gift cards to Starbucks. Everyone’s favorite non-holiday is here once again! Whether Irish or not, St. Patrick’s Day is a yearly tradition in celebrating Irish heritage and culture that anyone can take part in. Along with Chicago and New York, Boston is one of the greatest cities in the United States to experience all of the St. Paddy’s Day festivities. On Sunday all throughout Boston there will be a number of celebrations at local pubs and bars where the masses will flock to share a pint (or two) with friends. The annual South Boston parade is sure to be another monumental event, with tens of thousands flocking to the streets of Southie for the festival. If you’re looking for a perfect spot to check out all the action, then head over to our friends at 50 West Broadway! Their fabulous apartments are located just off the Red Line’s Broadway stop and offer a perfect spot to see the parade festivities. Save the hassle of driving, hop on the commuter rail right at the entrance to Trotter Road and you’ll be in Boston within 20 minutes! Don’t forget to check out the many taverns and pubs that will be full of St. Patrick’s Day joy!

Even as over a foot of snow is falling on the Boston area, we here at the Commons are strictly looking forward to spring time. Sure the roads may be littered with snow banks 4 feet high, but a yearly tradition marking the inauguration of spring is happening this weekend. Make sure when you wake up Sunday morning to turn you clocks forward by one hour for daylight savings! Now while we will still have snow piled up for the coming weeks, there are still plenty of reasons to start celebrating the spring. In moving our clocks forward by an hour, there is more day time to enjoy the great outdoors. That one hour gives more time to bike your favorite trails, kayak the roughest rivers, tee it up at your local golf course, and enjoy a more healthier and active lifestyle in general. More sunlight also means more chances to use the sun’s natural light rather than your heat. That combination can translate into huge savings on your monthly utility bills. So while you step in a puddle of wet snow trying to clean off the car, just think that spring can’t be too far away!
